The Bronte House

Just up the street this weekend, the Bronte House, a Victorian cottage, held one of its annual open house events. For just a small donation to the volunteer group, I could wander the gardens and the main rooms of the house.

A private couple lease the house and grounds from the Waverley Council for $1 per year, but on the condition that they pay the maintenance of the grounds and keep the main rooms dressed in period furnishings - and allow the public in on four weekends per year. Its a unique spot and lovely home.

Flowers, trees, ferns, and shrubs border stone paths, fountains, and contemplative spots. It seems like it'd be a lovely place to live.
